Searching for the Serendib Scops Owl

Described to science only in 2004, this tiny owl is one of Asia’s most recently discovered birds.

The Serendib Scops Owl is a tiny owl of dense lowland rainforest. It was first heard in the 1990s and formally described in 2004.

Finding it responsibly

The owl roosts low in tangled undergrowth. Our naturalists know its territories and will search quietly, without disturbing roosting birds. Please let us know in advance if it is a target species, so we can plan your time.
